Frew and Flanagan held meeting earlier in the week to discuss his position.
Barkingside boss Matt Frew is delighted to receive the backing of chairman Jimmy Flanagan who insists he’s the man to lead them to Ryman North safety.
Frew met with Flanagan earlier in the week to discuss his situation as Side boss with the Crickelfield outfit currently in the Ryman North relegation places, and did offer to step aside.
However, he has received the full backing of the chairman and is now keen to get to back to business this weekend when they are set to host a Wroxham side that has lost their last three games.
“I have had a chat with the chairman and said to him if there is someone better for the job then I would be happy to step aside,” said Frew.
“We have had those talks, but he’s rejected that and says I am the man for the job. It’s nice to get that backing. For me the football club comes first.
“I don’t want the club to be relegated or suffer, but I am confident we can pick up the results to avoid relegation.”
