Barkingside 3 Eton Manor 1

Barkingside extended their unbeaten run in the Essex Senior League to seven matches with success over Manor at Cricklefield Stadium.

Manager Gursel Gulfer had challenged his mid-table side during the week to finish the campaign without further defeat and, after a scoreless first half, saw them take the lead just three minutes after the restart through tall striker Luke With’s 18th goal of the season.

The home side’s joy was shortlived as Joshua Sykes got Manor back on level terms soon after and the visitors then had appeals for a penalty turned down.

Barkingside countered to regain the lead through Jakub Berkowicz, who grabbed his eighth goal for the club on 72 minutes, and Manor were then reduced to 10 men as Ryan Cosson was given his marching orders.

Gulfer’s men made sure of the points eight minutes from time when Kai Heather struck his second goal of the season and victory saw them leapfrog Basildon United, who were beaten 2-1 at home by Waltham Forest, into 10th place.

Barkingside host lowly Haringey & Waltham next weekend and have home fixtures against Sporting Bengal, London Bari and Enfield to end their schedule.

Landlords Ilford had beaten Tower Hamlets 2-1 on Friday night at Mile End Stadium, while neighbours Redbridge, who are in 13th place, did not have a weekend fixture and are due to return to action with a home match against Basildon at Oakside on Tuesday March 21.

Barkingside: McCarthy, Birch (Ademilyu 54), Brown, Clifton, Conteh, Edwards, Heather, Mitchell, Blake, Berkowicz, With. Unused subs: Fontaine, Glancy, Nottage, Ruzgas.

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.
