Essex Open played host to over 75 teams and hosted more than 250 matches at their annual tournament at Redbridge Sports Centre.

The event has become one of the biggest on the netball calender and Essex entered teams from under-11 to under-16, as well as another in the open category.

The under-11s played some of their best netball of the season in a round-robin event to achieve their first runners-up spot, while the under-12s battled through their group and beat Hertford Hornets 7-5 in a thrilling semi-final.

Turnford proved too strong in the final, though, and won 9-3, leaving Essex runners-up.

The under-14s also made it through to their final after an exciting last-four clash with their Turnford rivals.

The two sides were level at 3-3 at half time, but Essex edged to a 7-6 victory, before losing 9-4 to Poole in the final.

The under-16s and senior team won more than they lost, but missed the medals.
