The latest news from the Ilford Social Centre Darts League

Lainy’s Mob recorded an impressive 11-2 win over Beehive Arrows in the latest round of matches in the Ilford Social Centre League.

The only other game of the week saw Barkingside Royals edge out Parks in a 7-6 thriller.

In the Parks side for this week’s match was Phil Nash, who has played for the same team in the same league for the past 40 years.

When Nash started out, Parks were known as Redbridge Parks and played out of Redbridge Parks Social Club base in Station Road, Barkingside.

There were a host of different rules back then, including throws being taken from a distance of eight feet.

Back in Nash’s first season in 1977/78 there were 29 teams split across three divisions.

Matches then were played in venues as far afield as the Golden Fleece in Manor Park, the Golden Lion in Romford and the Crown in Roneo Corner.

After 40 years in the league, it is good to see Nash still going strong.
