It’s a family affair as quartet selected for international duty.
Four members from the Dagenham Pitch & Putt Club will represent Great Britain at the World Cup in Ireland later this year.
And it will be a family affair as Ron Cope joins forces with cousins Steve, John and Jamie Deeble in the squad which will take on the pick of internationals at the Royal Meath club between August 24 and 26.
The news was confirmed after the Open and Inter Club tournaments held at Centenary Park in Stanmore, Middlesex, where Dagenham increased their overall lead of the tournament as they look to keep hold of the title for the 10th consecutive year.
Increased
Kent club Snodhurst Bottom were the nearest challengers, but they couldn’t match Dagenham’s power as the Central Park-based club scored a collective 582 shots compared to Snodhurst’s 610 as their leading margin increased to 52 shots.
It was John Deeble who led the way for Dagenham with two good rounds of one under par 53, as he totalled 106 for both rounds to record the best gross score of the day. The best handicap score went to Noel Geddis of Snodhurst who returned a score of 105 for his rounds. Dan Landers made an impressive return to the Dagenham club with two rounds of 56 and 58 to claim a place in the BPPA Matchplay along with Savio Fernandes of Centenary leaving only two more places remaining for the Dagenham fixture in August.
