Wanstead under-19s edged out local rivals Oakfield Parkonians to win the Essex T20 Cup for a second year running at Billericay.

Parks had seen off Loughton by three runs in their tense semi-final, while the Herons beat Shenfield by 45 runs.

Parks made 124-9 against Loughton and produced some fine catches in the field, but lost Eshun Kalley with a dislocated finger.

Nonetheless, they scored 153 in the final thanks to Paran Kalley (50), Aman Ali (32), Dhruv Patel (21) and Paresh Kalley (20).

Three catches went down in Wanstead’s reply as Feroze Khushi hit 54 off 37 balls and Robin Das added 50 off 41 to see the Herons to a six-wicket triumph.

Jayden Rising (46) had top scored against Shenfield as Wanstead made 140-8, before Faheem Aziz (2-11), Rising (2-14), Nabeel Aziz (2-18) and Brandon Lord (2-24) combined with the ball to hold their rivals to 95-9.

Wanstead play the regional finals on Sunday.
