Essex County Cricket Club have announced that Jack Plom has signed his first professional contract with the club, lasting until the end of the 2020 season.

The 19-year-old came through the Essex Academy and featured heavily for the Second XI team this season, taking 18 wickets in seven Second XI County Championship matches, with his best performance seeing him take 6-33.

Plom has been in and around the first-team set-up at Essex this year whilst also being one of the stand-out players for the Young Lions during their recent series win against South Africa Under-19s, taking 13 wickets across the four matches.

Shenfield Cricket Club’s Plom is thrilled to pen his first professional deal and said: “I’m really excited to sign my first professional contract and I can’t wait to get going next season.

“I’ve now been on three England Under-19 tours which was really good for my development, and I want to crack on from that and progress further as a player with Essex.”
