Former world featherweight champion Colin McMillan is looking forward to celebrating a special anniversary – it’s 20 years since the memorable night he took the crown with a magnificent performance against Italian Maurizio Stecca at Alexandra Palace.

‘Sweet C’ from Ilford who coaches boxing classes at the Redbridge Sports Centre hit a peak the night in north London when he outpointed the WBO king who had been beaten just once in 45 previous pro bouts.

He will mark the occasion with the launch of the updated version of his autobiography, ‘Fight the Power’ at SENI, the combat and strength based sports show on Saturday and Sunday June 2 and 3 at the ExCel Arena in Docklands which has attracted many boxing personalities.

His book covers early career and the struggles for recognition in the amateur and pro ranks, as he tried to exert more control over his destiny by become self managed.

It also includes the shooting of his promoter Frank Warren in Barking and meeting with all-powerful American Don King.

Twelve years on, the updated version provides an insight into how he has come to terms with life after boxing and his involvement in the controversial career of Audley Harrison.

McMillan also examines the history of racism in the sport and asks why there are not more black managers.

His book will be officially launched at SENI, the official venue of the boxing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games, where he will sign copies of the books for fans and speak at Boxfair, a special boxing feature which takes part within the SENI show.

The live action includes a Hard Knocks fight night organised by Spencer Fearon as well as a London ABA event and line up of boxing champions past and present including: David Price, Kevin Mitchell, Herol Graham, Tim Witherspoon, Frank Maloney and Jane Couch.
