Redbridge Music Service will be working with Waltham Forest Music Service and The London Chamber Orchestra in a new project to find progression routes for young woodwind players.

The Fund is an independent charity that aims to help young Londoners realise their musical potential.

It can help families with talented youngsters who struggle to pay for music tuition when free lessons at school stop.

Working in partnership with music services across the capital, the scheme hopes to reach an estimated 1,000 children in the coming year.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who is a founder and patron of the fund, said learning a musical instrument can have a “powerful impact on a child’s life”.

He added: “The Fund is enriching the lives of hundreds of children and also making sure London remains the top city in the world for all kinds of music.

“I wish the Fund and these talented young people who are benefiting from its work every success.”
