A new and improved playground has been opened in Woodford Green.

Council leader Councillor Jas Athwal unveiled the new facilities in Ray Lodge Park, Snakes Lane East.

The play area has been completely renovated with new accessible and inclusive equipment installed alongside revamped existing apparatus.

The £50,000 renovation comes as part of the Labour council’s manifesto promise to invest £1.6million over four years into Redbridge’s 29 parks and open spaces.

Cllr Athwal said: “This fantastic park is a vital and popular community space for local families, dog walkers and sports and nature enthusiasts.

“I’m delighted to have been able to breathe new life into the park and give local children, like those from neighbouring Ray Lodge Primary School, a great play area to enjoy for years to come.”

Cllr Athwal was joined at the park by eight students from Ray Lodge Primary School, who are all members of the school’s parliament.
