Archant

Anyone hoping for a snowball fight in Ilford today will be disappointed after hours of snow melted as soon as it hit the ground.

Flakes have been falling on Redbridge for much of today and more sleet and snow is forecast overnight.

Snow could settle as night sets in but tomorrow is currently forecast to be sunny and dry.

There has been little travel disruption so far as temperatures stay above freezing.

But train operator Greater Anglia has put speed restrictions in place because of snow on lines.

Services through Ilford, Seven Kings, Goodmayes and Chadwell Heath to Liverpool Street and Essex may be delayed or cancelled.
