A Victim Support worker in Woodford Green is preparing to climb Africa’s highest peak next month to raise money for the charity.

Jan Scott, a divisional manager in Bourne Court, will attempt to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro with 15 other women.

She has worked for Victim Support for 27 years and is determined to use the profits from her climb to support men, women, and children who are having problems with domestic violence and abuse.

Her fundraising target is £5,000 and she has already raised £2,185.

She said: “Kilimanjaro might be known as the most walkable mountain in the world, but it is no walk in the park.

“I’m climbing it to make sure that victims of domestic violence have somewhere to turn when those closest to them turn on them.”

Last year, Victim Support helped 1,800 victims of domestic violence in Redbridge.
