Emergency services, including air ambulance, were called to the scene just before 2.45pm yesterday to a collision involving two cars and an HGV.

A police spokesperson said: “Two people are still in hospital and are in a stable condition.”

Both patients were taken as priorities to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel with multiple injuries.

The road was closed in a southbound direction for several hours with queues leading back as far as 10 miles.
