The two men, both believed to be in their 30s, were in an unmarked police car with blue lights and sirens on, when they collided with another car.

The incident occurred in The Drive, Ilford yesterday at about 5.40pm and is being investigated by traffic police.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said they sent two ambulances and a duty manager to the scene.

One of the patients was treated for leg and neck pain before both were taken to Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel as a priority.
