Chipmunks, Coco, Nutmeg and Cinnamon were born at the animal enclosure on Emerson Road.

Simon Litt, Valentines Park manager, said the little ones were a result of a planned pregnancy and it is great news.

“The babies left their nest box at the end of last week,” he said.

“They have been enjoying the sunshine and have been very active exploring their new home.”

Mum (Cream) and Dad (Coffee), who were named in a competition last year, are doing well and will continue to rear their pups until later in the year.

They all take after Coffee and are brown in colour, unlike cream who is fair in appearance.

“Chipmunk are omnivores, so they eat a commercial hamster diet blended with other food items, including nuts and seeds, fruits and vegetables “ he added.

The triplets are not the only new faces and Tinkerbell - the park’s resident tortoise - now has a new friend called Annabel to play with.
