Local produce, plants, gardening tips and a miniature steam train will be among the outdoor delights at an allotment festival in Goodmayes on Sunday.
The Seven Kings and Goodmayes Allotment Society is hosting its seventh annual festival at the Goodmayes Allotments, in Goodmayes Lane.
There will be nearly 30 voluntary groups with stalls on growing your own, wildlife, charities and societies.
Committee member Sue Cunningham said: “In this area, where so many gardens are paved and people rarely see a hedgehog or a bat, the festival is an opportunity to educate and encourage residents to support our fragile eco system.”
There will be recycling games, morris dancing, face painting and miniature steam train rides at the event from 1-5pm.
Festival-goers will be able to relax listening to live music and enjoying home-made cakes, and strawberries and cream.
Admission to the Goodmayes Allotment Garden Festival is £1 for adults, children free.
