Such sights Redbridge has never seen: in three days’ time, world-class cyclists clad in lycra will spend 10 minutes whizzing through the borough, and we’re keen to hear from you.

It’s only the second time the Tour de France has started in the UK (reigning champion Chris Froome et al set off in Yorkshire tomorrow) and the first time the race has ever been to Redbridge.

Riders enter London via Epping New Road before dashing down Woodford Green High Road, where you’ll find all the best spots to catch a glimpse of Le Tour.

Just a few minutes later, the race exits Redbridge into Waltham Forest by Woodford New Road.

If you’re there, tweet your comments and pictures to @ilfordrecorder.

The map above shows disruption along the route. Red is the path of the race; green are the nearby roads that are closed.

Significantly, there’ll be no access to Waterworks Corner from the A406 North Circular Road between 9am-6pm. Other roads, including Oak Hill, Broadmead Road and Whitehall Road will be closed from 10am-6pm.

The “caravan”, a convoy of floats and other vehicles that travel ahead of the race distributing promotional items and merchandise, arrives in Redbridge at 1.05pm. Riders - expected to be racing as part of a tightly packed peloton - arrive at 2.40pm.
