The annual free event, organised by Newham Council, featured a display choreographed to a musical medley that included rock, pop, Bollywood and film soundtrack tunes.

Almost 23,000 people packed out the fields on the Flats for Sunday evening’s display, with another 10,000 gathering on nearby streets to watch the display.

Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said: “I am always happy to see so many families enjoying themselves at our popular Guy Fawkes Night and I am very proud to offer this evening to residents free of charge.

“This was an impressive display featuring a soundtrack of popular music, chosen to please all our residents and the spectacular fireworks could be seen for miles. Iwas great to see so many families having fun, watching the fireworks in this safe environment.”
