Staff from Sainsbury’s Chadwell Heath, based in High Road, presented the Chadwell Heath Community Centre with flower bulbs and seeds to plant in its gardens.

The employees, Lorna Lawrence, Jacqueline Radley and Ken Pocock, decided to help after visiting the site. They have also donated three boardroom tables.

The store’s manager, Gareth Powell, said: “We are pleased to be able to help with the refurbishment of the community centre and promised help with planting flowers ready for the official opening.

“Being in the heart of our community, we feel very privileged to be a part of this project and look forward to working with them in the future.”

The community centre was formerly the Robert Jeyes Library.
