Staff at Tesco, in Cranbrook Road, asked shoppers to donate £1 to Cancer Research UK, and write a note on their special memorial wall in store.

Organiser Julie Cotton said: “We had a fantastic few days and the community came out and supported our efforts by writing messages for their heroes and making our dedicated wall very colourful.

“We had people dressed up as their favourite comic book heroes as well as army and navy related outfits. “We managed to raise £342 which was great.”
