Snow in Redbridge: Trains severely delayed but schools staying open

Trains travelling through Redbridge are running up to an hour late, but schools are handling overnight snow better.

Engineering works on the Liverpool Street to Shenfield line – which runs through stations including Seven Kings and Ilford – over-ran this morning.

Greater Anglia say some trains may be cancelled, or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

The 8.50am from Liverpool Street to Shenfield has been cancelled due to “overhead wire problems”, having originally been predicted to be delayed by 43 minutes.

After last month’s heavy snow forced about half of the borough’s schools to close, they have coped far better this time, albeit with less snow falling.

No schools have so far announced closures or delays in opening.
