Seven Kings club donates thousands for school minibus

A Seven Kings club has donated more than £6,000 to a school for special needs children towards a new minibus.
The Lions Club of London branch gave £6,250 to Newbridge School, which has campuses in Chadwell Heath and Goodmayes.
Head teacher Peter Bouldstridge said: “A lot of our students go out into the community as part of the curriculum for activities like swimming, shopping and horse riding.
“It requires us to have our own transport and we are constantly trying to replace the buses that have got worn out.
“We are in debt to the organisations and people who make such an effort on our behalf.”
The new bus is expected to arrive in September and will have disabled access and space for wheelchairs.
Lions Club president Harish Chauhan presented the cheque on Friday at the school’s Gresham Drive campus.
He said: “We decided to give the money straight away because we knew the bus was urgently needed.
“It’s a very worthy cause.”
The club is part of a global organisation that donates money to community groups and causes around the world.
Ilford agents Fairview Lets and the Mayor’s charity appeal also raised money towards the minibus.
