Campaigners are holding a march from Valentines Park to Redbridge Town Hall today, to protest the planned closure of the borough’s only emergency unit.

Organised by Andy Walker, protesters will convene in Perth Road, Gants Hill, at 1.30pm before walking to the town hall in High Road, Ilford for a debate and rally at 3pm.

The campaigners want to halt plans to turn King George A&E, in Barley Lane, Goodmayes, into a urgent care centre.

Speaking at the rally will be MPs Mike Gapes and Wes Streeting, Redbridge Assembly Member Keith Prince and council leader Cllr Jas Athwal.

The Recorder will be chairing questions from the audience.
