The Ginger Pig butchers in Wanstead is closed today following reports of a break-in.

Staff at the popular shop in High Street arrived this morning to discover the burglary, and alerted customers to the incident on Twitter.

A spokeswoman for the butchers told the Recorder staff “are currently dealing with the situation”.

Police confirmed the shop was broken into at some point on Sunday, and cash and collection boxes were taken.

None of the butchers’ famous meats were stolen.

Redbridge Police are investigating and inquiries continue. No arrests have been made.
