On Sunday Dagenham & Redbridge pool team will play 24 hours of non-stop pool for the children’s ward at the King George hospital.
The ward means a lot to the team as it has saved the lives of team member Tony Davies two children who were both treated there for life threatening conditions.
In 2014 the team aims to raise £7,500 to refurbish the ward’s sensory room which provides a tranquil haven for sick and injured children and also acts as a learning space.
Over the last few years they have run a number of different charity events raising over £12,000 for the ward, enabling it to purchase equipment and make the children’s stay in hospital as comfortable as possible.
Daniel Scotcher, spokesman for the club, said: “We welcome anyone down to the club to help support the event and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.”
The pool marathon takes place on Sunday at Dagenham and Redbridge football club, Victoria Road, Dagenham, at noon on Sunday, May 4, until noon the following day.
There will be several competitions held over the course of the 24 hours with a bar and Sky Sports available throughout, admission is free and open to all.
