Questions from people across the community were asked at a stall in Ilford High Street to encourage “a better understanding” of immigration into this country.
Ten people told their thought-provoking stories to volunteer group Team V Redbridge last Saturday as part of the campaign Routes to Roots.
Rebecca Kemal, Team V leader for Redbridge, said: “The event was really good. A lot of people were asking us general questions about the stall rather than telling a story about migration.”
Stories told by members of the public will be put forward for a documentary to be produced in collaboration with Eastside Community Heritage - a community development organisation based in High Road, Ilford.
The documentary - also called Routes to Roots - will be finished in the next two weeks.
It will then be handed over to Eastside Community Heritage to show at its events.
