PUBLISHED: 17:00 18 July 2014

Redbridge Council has said it is unable to confirm the whereabouts of a suspected illegal immigrant found clinging to the chassis of a coach in Ilford.

Police detained a 16-year-old boy after he was discovered under a coach packed with schoolchildren returning from a trip to Calais on June 27.

Following his arrest, the boy - from Sudan - was passed into the care of social services.

Asked whether he was still in their care or had been deported, Redbridge Council said it was “unable to confirm any of the details at this time”.
