Ilford Catholic Club

People will be dancing the night away after the club announced it is due to host a day of music and food all in aid of a cancer charity.

The Ilford Catholic Club, which is based at The Guildhall in High Road, Ilford, will be hosting Stomp Out Cancer with DJs Ska n Mash - who are putting the event together - along with a range of bands and musicians to suit multiple musical tastes.

Dub and Ska band The Talks will be headlining the event, which will run from noon on Saturday until 2am the following morning, for charity Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Organiser Pete Lacey, 51, of Hornchurch, said: “We’re all affected by cancer so it’s a very good cause. Even people in my family have been affected by it.”

Entry is £5, with proceeds going to the charity.

Redbridge 18-Plus

The social club met up with 18-Plus groups from around the country and went on a camping weekend for their summer break.

The group, which meets at 8.30pm on Fridays at Central Library in Clements Road, Ilford, packed their bags and camping gear before setting off for King’s Lynn, Norfolk.

Group members went on a treasure hunt, ate pizza and sang their hearts out at the karaoke.

Redbridge organiser Kerry Mann said: “It was a great weekend away, with a good party atmosphere and I particularly enjoyed the disco we put on.”

For information on joining the group call 020 8553 0947.

The group is set to sip coffee and quiz the CEO of the Redbridge Council Voluntary Service.

The CVS CEO Ross Diamond will be giving a talk to Barkingside 21 members on the challenges facing the voluntary sector before taking questions from group members.

The coffee morning is due to take place on September 23 from 9.45am till 11.45pm in the Hainault Room at Fullwell Cross Library on High Street, Barkingside.

There will be free fairtrade tea and biscuits at the free community group event.
