Youngsters did not need to get dressed into their uniform for school on Friday, as they were given the chance to wear their pyjamas to help raise money for a school in Ghana.
Pupils at Avanti Court Primary, Carlton Drive, Barkingside donned pyjamas and brought their favourite teddy to school in order to raise much needed funds as part of their Connecting Classrooms project.
Next month, staff from the school, alongside representatives from William Torbitt Primary, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, Little Heath Special School, Hainault Road, Little Heath and Oaks Park High, Oaks Lane, Newbury Park, will travel to the town of Sunyani in Ghana.
The schools are part of a project run by the British Council, which is designed to help young people learn about global issues and become responsible global citizens.
Deputy headteacher, Junaida Bana, said: “Our children do not know much about how children learn in Ghana especially in smaller towns like Sunyani so I am looking forward to our week long trip which will be an enlightening experience.
“Pupils in Year One are making a treasure box of all the things they like which will be shared with pupils in Sunyani.”
