One of the UK’s biggest female crossover artists from Asian music has released a new track with one of the biggest names in Russian trance.

Award-winning Gants Hill vocalist Shahin Badar has collaborated with DJ, producer and radio host Bobina to produce Delusional, a dance track with an enchanting eastern inflection.

Shahin is a regular in commercial crossover music and is perhaps best known for her mesmerising Alaap chant on the Prodigy’s number one hit Smack my B***ch Up in 1997, which earned her a quadruple platinum award last year.

Her voice can be heard from Bollywood to Hollywood, having worked with Oscar-winning director A R Rahman.

Her voice has featured on more than 30 movies such as Charlie’s Angels, Closer and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

Shahin was approached by Black Hole Recordings co-founder, Arny Bink, to collaborate with Bobina on what is her first dalliance into the world of trance after nearly 20 years in the music industry.

She said: “I have been listening to trance since I was a teenager and now I have left my mark on the trance scene.

“The track is unique and seems to be doing well on the club scene and has a great ending.

“I hope people appreciate my collaboration.”

Delusional was released earlier this month and has no doubt featured on Bobina’s Moscow-based radio show, Russia Goes Clubbing.

Despite her Indo-Arabic background, Shahin hopes this is just the start of her journey with dance music.

She said: “I just want to work on the dance genre and different sounds and get out there and make some noise.

“I feel really happy to be part of the dance genre family.”

Delusional by DJ Bobina featuring Shahin Badar is out now.
