Pupils at Highlands Primary School, Highlands Gardens, Ilford, focused on Unicef, the leading organisation for children in more than 190 countries.

As the charity’s logo is blue, staff and students came to school dressed in the colour.

Activities included researching the charity and running a cake sale, which raised £239.

Highlands held the day because it is a Rights Respecting School –which places the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the forefront of its planning and policies.
