Poorly children, who are likely to spend some of the Christmas period in hospital, were entertained last week with a special performance of Dick Whittington.

As part of the Christmas of Happiness campaign, the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s interactive theatre group, The Panto Company, visited King George Hospital, Barley Lane, Goodmayes to entertain youngsters.

The four actors danced, dazzled and sang for patients, helping them to forget their illnesses and have a bit of fun.

Ted James, who plays Dick Whittington, said: “Starlight gives poorly children a positive focus when they need it most and the charity’s Christmas panto is a great way to entertain and distract children who are in hospital over the festive period.

“Dick Whittington is our best show yet and we hope that it helped restore some of the magic of Christmas for the poorly children.”

The performance was funded by Heinz’s Get Well Soup campaign, which launched in November.

Members of the public can buy personalised cans of soup for loved ones to help raise funds for Starlight’s Christmas panto.
