More than 3,300 officers took to the capital’s streets for Operation Bigwing, including Redbridge’s own.

There were 26 arrests across the borough for crimes including domestic assault, fraud, burglary, theft and handling stolen goods.

Spot checks were completed at mobile phone stores, with 95 handsets checked but found to not be stolen.

There were also patrols at robbery and burglary hot spots, automated number plate recognition operations and crime prevention events.

South Woodford tube station hosted a passive drugs dog operation held by the British Transport Police and local officers.

Several warnings for cannabis were issued and one person was arrested for handling a stolen mobile phone.

Across the borough, three warrants were executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Det Supt Ellie O’Connor said: “Officers across the boroughs worked very hard to ensure our communities become safer places. We will continue this activity to drive down offending, bringing those that commit harm to justice and offer victims of crime support.

“I would like to thank all staff involved, as well as the partner agencies who support us.”
