A man in his 60s was rushed to hospital this morning following a collision with a car on the A406 in Ilford.

Emergency services were at the scene for about 45 minutes and the road was closed southbound following the crash.

Police were called to the incident at around 10.55am and the motorcyclist was taken to hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “We await details of his condition.

“There has been no arrests.”

Traffic trailed back past the Redbridge Flyover following the incident and commuters were advised to find alternative routes.

As soon as the road reopened around 11.45am, one lane was closed for a further 30 minutes after a bus broke down.
