An outdoor classroom is being constructed in Ray Park, off Snakes Lane East in Woodford Green.

Vision Redbridge, which runs the borough’s leisure services, is putting on a summer programme through its nature conservation team who guided volunteers who were willing to muck in.

The classroom will sit inside a walled garden near the park’s James Leal Centre, according to a Vision spokesman.

She said: “Once complete it will provide a private and secure outdoor learning space for schools and groups.

“The landscaping within the secret garden area has solely been through the efforts of volunteer work parties.

“We hope it will be ready for 2013”.”

Volunteers moved earth to lay on the path while youngsters helped out by weeding.
