Three teenagers were taken to hospital after their car collided with a parked vehicle before hitting a wall in the early hours.

A 17-year-old girl was treated for a leg injury and an 18-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were also treated for minor injuries after the incident happened at 4am in Perth Road, Gants Hill.

Two single responders, three ambulance crews, a medical officer and a duty officer were sent to the scene and the passengers were later taken to the Royal London Hospital as a priority.

A man who lives on the road where the accident happened said it was “lucky” that the car did not plough into one of the houses.

The man, who did not want to be named, said: “Me and my family were woken up just before 4am by a really loud bang and I looked out the window and a car was spinning down the road, it was a completely destroyed large black large car.”

The car hit a number of parked vehicles on the road, writing off two of them, before hitting a garden wall on the corner of Auckland Road.

“It’s lucky not as many cars were parked there as usual,” he said. “It hit a brick wall on the end of the terrace. It’s a quarter of a metre up before the damage so it must have been in the air. It’s lucky it slowed down so much, if it had not hit that wall it would have gone into a house.”

It is thought the male passenger had to be cut from the car by firefighters who attended the scene.

The resident said: “They [the police] were struggling to free the person then the emergency vehicles turned up, there were about 40 or 50 people on the scene. The car that was in the road was completely crumpled in.”

He said: “The first two passengers we out really quickly but it took over 30 minutes to get the other out, they cut off every car door on the car.”

The road was cordoned off until about 6.30am this morning.
