Avaish Cassim saw the moment the first vehicle “blew up in flames” in Richmond Road on Friday.

He said someone was seen trying to put out the flames underneath the bonnet before firefighters arrived.

Crews from Ilford took about 20 minutes to put out the blaze, which started shortly before 1.30pm.

On Saturday, another fire engulfed a black Mercedes in Cleveland Road, Ilford.

Firefighters were called just before 10.30pm and took 15 minutes to put it out.

Redbridge Police have launched an arson investigation into the incident.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Cons James Leeks of Redbridge CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
