A South Woodford cab driver accused of murdering a mother-of-two nearly 17 years ago was granted bail at the Old Bailey today.
Kevin Doherty, 57, of Sherwood Avenue, South Woodford, is said to have killed his former mistress Jane Harrison after a shopping trip in June 1995.
Ms Harrison, 32, of Highbury, north London, was last seen alive at the Wood Green Shopping Centre.
No body has ever been recovered and a murder investigation was launched in August 2010.
Doherty, who lives with his wife in South Woodford, was arrested and charged with murder on Tuesday.
He appeared at the Old Bailey by video link from prison.
He was granted bail on condition of paying £125,000 in security to the court.
Conditions placed on his bail include residing at his Sherwood Avenue home and observing a curfew between 10pm and 7am on an electronic tag.
He will also have to report daily to Ilford police station in High Road.
He is banned from contacting prosecution witnesses and had to surrender his passport.
He will return to court for a plea and case management hearing on September 5.
