Shop workers in Chadwell Heath rowed thousands of metres on a rowing machine for charity on Saturday.
Staff at Wickes were aiming to row two million metres with their colleagues in the south east of England on the day in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Team team of 10 have raised £470 so far for the charity but expect to top £500.
One staff member even rowed as Mr Bean, completely in character and with his teddy to keep him company.
Customers entering the shop in High Road were surprised to see the challenge.
Customer service supervisor Kerry Sullivan rowed 10,000m on the machine donated by Virgin Active in Romford.
She said: “I’d never been on a rowing machine before and it seemed easy but when you’ve been going for a few minutes it really starts to get your arms and back.
“It was a bit embarrassing because people were staring but everyone had fun.”
