Year five and six pupils from Farnham Green Primary School, in Royal Close, swapped their choir room for the huge venue and an audience of thousands as part of the Young Voices project.

They sang a pop medley, rock and even some disco and were led by 11-year-old Britain’s Got Talent star singer Connie Talbot.

Music co-ordinator Kate Henderson said the 29 little performers had been practising since June.

She added: “It was brilliant, they loved it.”

Mum Kay Atwal was overjoyed to watch daughter Shaan Johan, 10, on stage.

She said: “It was quite emotional to see thousands of children come together to sing.

“They could have lifted the roof off.

“It was moving watching my little one sing my favourite song by U2 - it sent a shiver up my spine.”

Young Voices offers chances for school choirs to sing in concerts around the country and aims to introduce children to live music and performance.
