Schoolchildren have been bringing some festive cheer to patients and visitors at King George Hospital in Goodmayes with carol singing.
Children from The Palmer Catholic Academy, in Aldborough Road South, Seven Kings, and Uphall Primary School, in Uphall Road, Ilford, got into the Christmas spirit with carols, tinsel and Santa hats.
Pupils from St John’s Roman Catholic School, in Turpins Lane, Woodford Green, also joined in the fun.
They serenaded people coming and going at the hospital in Barley Lane, Goodmayes.
A passer-by said: “It was a lovely surprise when I entered the main entrance whilst the children were singing and it got me very much in the mood for Christmas.”
The singing was organised by the King George and Queen’s Hospital Charity.
The charity aims to improve staff and visitor welfare at both hospitals but there are “strict guidelines” to separate the money from hospital trust funds.
Donations have been used to buy a Christmas present for every patient in both hospitals.
