Members of South Woodford Mosque, Mulberry Way, South Woodford raised the money for Haven House Children’s Hospice, High Road, Woodford Green.

Dr Mohammed Fahim visited the hospice to speak to staff about Islamic beliefs and customs, particularly regarding death and bereavement.

He said: “We were delighted both to offer hospice staff advice on how best to support Muslim children and families, and to raise money for such a deserving cause that does such fantastic work across all faiths and communities.”

Mosque members raised money through collecting donations from their family and friends.

Mike Palfreman, chief executive of the hospice, said: “We are very keen to be making these links with the local Muslim community and absolutely delighted by the fantastic generosity of Dr Fahim’s congregation.”
