The River Roding in Redbridge is finally falling after a dry day but many parks, fields and pitches are still waterlogged.
A submerged car has been abandoned in floodwater up to its bonnet in Mill Road, Ilford.
The road has been closed to traffic where it passes under a railway bridge for safety.
Drivers in several car parks, including Aldi in Seven Kings and at the Jack Carter Centre in Barkingside, have found themselves with wet feet.
There are also reports of flooding in Seven Kings Park, Hainault Recreation Ground, Fairlop Golf Course and in many car parks and roads where surface water has nowhere to go.
Gants Hill Tube station had to close on Thursday when rainwater flooded in, causing a power cut.
An Environment Agency statement said: “Levels on the lower reaches of river Roding remain high following the rainfall over the last couple of days but are now slowly falling.
“Sunday night is forecast to be dry. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
With a dry day forecast today and tomorrow, the situation looks set to improve.
