Residents in a Woodford Green block of flats have said the eviction of a “vulnerable woman” who has turned their lives into a nightmare “is the only option”.

Mother Natasha Lewis, of Chartwell Court, Broomhill Walk, held a meeting in her flat this morning, attended by the MP for Chingford and Woodford Green, Iain Duncan Smith, landlords Home Group, Redbridge Council officers and other residents to discuss the problem tenant.

The woman has alcohol and drug problems, according to Ms Lewis, and regularly holds parties until the early hours of the morning.

Ms Lewis, who has a six-year-old son, said: “She’s constantly abusive to people, she can be quite volatile.

“There have been serious incidents.

“Her history is she’s an alcoholic and a drug user and so are the friends she keeps.

“I’ve had people make sexual advances against me and I’ve had them threaten me. They know I’ve made complaints against her.”

She added that blood and faeces have even been smeared on her door.

Following a previous meeting with the Woodford Green MP in November, Adam Brown, customer service partner for Home Group, said the vulnerable woman had been served with “documents” and the housing association is in the process of collecting witness statements.

He said: “We can’t go straight in and secure her eviction.”

Harveil Toor, manager of the council’s anti-social behaviour, said the case should now be “fast-tracked” to the borough’s victims’ panel, which would bring together relevant agencies and which could act to support an eviction.

But Mr Duncan Smith said more should have been done since his previous meeting.

Peter Jones, the council’s housing advice centre manager, said if the woman is evicted, she would come to the centre and be “engaged with support services, if she’s prepared to engage with that.”

Reverand Annie McTighe, of All Saints Church, Woodford Wells, who has worked with the woman for a year, said: “She’s a vulnerable woman, she has lots of needs.”

Following the meeting, Ms Lewis said: “I think it’s the only option, I don’t know what else to do.

”I don’t want to live like this.“
