Redbridge Olympic Ambassadors gave up 12,000 hours of their time at 50 events, report finds

More than 150 people helped make the Olympics a success by becoming Redbridge Ambassadors.
There were 165 people aged between 14-68 who helped out at more than 50 events.
On average the volunteers gave up between 50-100 hours of their time, but one in 10 worked more than 300 hours.
According to a report submitted to cabinet on Tuesday at a meeting in Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford, the volunteers gave 12,000 hours of their time free of charge.
If they were paid the London wage which was then £8.30, this would have cost about £100,000.
Almost eight in 10 volunteers said they hoped to continue volunteering at future events.
