People are partying across Redbridge this weekend, with the “Queen” making a special appearance at a school’s Diamond Jubilee bash.

With Union Flags lining borough roads, hundreds of people have already been enjoying parties to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

And Her Majesty made a special appearance at South Park Primary School, Water Lane, Seven Kings on Friday... sort of.

Member of staff Joan Pettit, dressed as the Queen, greeted the school’s 820 pupils during their Jubilee picnic on Friday.

The picnic included the playing of old fashioned games, saw each class icing their own Jubilee cake and everyone coming together to sing the country’s national anthem, God Save The Queen.

Yesterday, a number of street parties kicked off the four-day weekend.

Residents in Gordon Road, Ilford enjoyed a barbecue while party games were played in Yoxley Approach, Newbury Park at a party organised by Avenue Neighbourhood Watch.

Today, people are defiantly braving the rain at street parties across the borough.

People have taken to High Street, Wanstead, where the pavement has been turned into a party town, and in Goodmayes Park, Green Lane, Goodmayes, the flags are out and a bouncy castle is in place.

If you have pictures of your own, or a Jubilee story to tell, post them to london.iwitness24.co.uk, or email them to newsdesk@ilfordrecorder.co.uk.
