Band members Te Eugene, 18, from Ilford, Sonny Jay, 18, a former West Hatch High School pupil from Chigwell and Eddie Brett, 20, from Chingford wowed the judges on the live semi-final show with their own song, Lovesick.

The performance earned them the most public votes and a place in the final on Saturday.

They group have been together for two years and have performed at various concerts including a memorial for former West Hatch High teacher, Anne Horne, after she died of cancer.

They have also played at The Cauliflower pub in High Road, Ilford.

Judge Simon Cowell, speaking on the night, said: “I cannot tell you how happy I am you’re in this competition. You’re current.”

Fellow judge, David Walliams, added: “You’ve got it all, you’re funny, sexy and you make your own music. You did a completely original song and you killed it.”
