Schoolgirl author Lilly Say has revealed she is writing a new novel.

The news comes just days after the disappointment of not scooping the People’s Book Prize award for her debut book SASAATN, which stands for Sugar and Spice and All Things Nice.

Lilly’s new book, set to be called Always Believe, is about Christmas, although she admits she has only just started writing it.

“I am in the process of doing it - but I have only written the intro,” said the 17-year-old. “This summer I am going to finish my book, but it is the last summer I can see all my school friends, too.

“It is about Christmas so there will be some elves in there - it will be another adventure story.”

Last week, Lilly just missed out on a gong at the People’s Book Prize where she was up for two awards.

The Woodford Green schoolgirl did not mind too much, conceding she was more enthralled by the glitzy award ceremony at the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers in central London.

She said: “The awards was really fun. I went with my publishers and it was strange because I was the only child there.

“I met some cool authors - they were all a bit mental, though.”

Lilly, who attends Trinity Catholic High School, in Mornington Road, said she is contracted to write four books with her current publishers Puppy Print (CHECK).

After the success of SASAATN, in which she referenced members of her immediate family, Lilly says she will include her two cousins in her next literary effort.

On writing a new book, Lilly added: “I always stick by the advice: “No idea is a bad idea”.

Ruth Killeen, Lilly’s literary agent, added she feels her new client is grounded despite her success with SASAATN.

She said: “She is extremely good, otherwise I would not have taken her on.

“She is so natural, and not pretentious or a horrible teenager. She is so chatty, but in a calm way.

“People expect fame in the first five minutes in this industry, but she is happy to just be writing.”
