Pensioners try Playstations in toy swap with Wanstead schoolchildren

Pensioners played on Playstations and children tried traditional games at a Wanstead school last week.
Older residents shared their treasured childhood games with the children at Aldersbrook Primary School, in Harpenden Road, as part of a programme of Olympic events.
The exchange was organised between the school and St Gabriel’s Church.
Rev Martyn Hawkes said: “It was part of a few Olympic activities we’ve been doing to get the community together.
“It started with a year group from the school coming into the church and creating artwork and then a different year group created board games.”
The home-made games were used along with games consoles including the Wii and Playstation on the day.
Deputy head Brian Hughes said: “The event was great. We were trying to link up young people with the more experienced residents in the community.
“Everyone loved it.”
