The Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Muhammed Javed, will launch the borough’s Youth Theatre Festival on June 23.

Events including a myths and monsters drama workshop and an imaginary space bus ride will be on offer for children.

Adults can present a television weather forecast or try zumba, Bollywood Dancing and circus skills.

The new building, with a foyer, extra rooms and circus space, was funded by £225,000 from the Arts Council last year and £85,000 from Redbridge Council.

The centre will now be able to put on more productions, work with young people, local artists and other theatre makers. A circus company will also take up residence, offering workshops as well as performances.

Live music will be played at the free open day and refreshments will be available.

The day will run from 2pm to 8pm at the centre in Churchfields, South Woodford.
